While many people are aware of the mandolin through follk, bluegrass and pop music, few are aware of the entire family of mandolin instruments.  Like the violin family, the manodlin family has multiple members.  

 

 

The mandolin is musically equivalent to the violin, covering the same range with the same tuning.

 

 

The mandola is musically equivalent to the viola.

The mandobass is equivalent to the upright or stringed bass.
